The upper legislative chamber of Katsina House of Assembly complex was on Wednesday raised down in an overnight fire incident.
According to report available to our correspondent, an assembly staff, who came to clean the chamber on Wednesday morning before the members come in for plenary, opened the assembly complex doors only to find out that the whole place had been gutted by fire.
Governor Aminu Masari expressed shock when he visited the complex to assess the extent of damage as a result of the incident.
The Deputy Chief Whip, Salisu Rimaye, who was also at the scene of the incident noted that the root cause of the incident is yet unknown but has assured that a team of electricians had begun processes to ascertain its cause.
He added that the fire extinguishers in the assembly were initially used to curtail the fire before men of the state fire service joined in putting it out.
According to the deputy chief whip no casualty was recorded in the incident.
